Host Comments

The house was designed by Charles Dilbeck, built in 1961 and renovated by current owners Jeff and Lisa Smith in 2008. The mid century modern design has an industrial flat roof which is convenient for PV Solar and passive hot water heating. By using the Daikin ductless multizone industrial air conditioning system Jeff and Lisa have been able to save energy, and eliminate ductwork and raise the ceiling by 18 inches. The solar is integrated with a generator and transfer switch and net metering to put power back on the grid. The passive solar system is used to heat the pool. Four on-demand gas water heaters are used for indoor hot water. The Control4 home automation system monitors is used for in-home and remote monitoring, control and energy management. Jeff and Lisa are do-it-yourselfers and would be happy to discuss any aspects of the home automation, and energy efficiency features, and xeriscape gardening. Lisa is a master gardener.
