I teach environmental science and am very passionate about caring for the environment.

When I first started talking about it in 2010, I told the students that solar was fantastic but it was still too expensive for the general public to embrace. In only a few short years the price of solar has dropped like a rock and now I inform my students that solar is actually cheaper than their regular electricity.

I teach environmental science at Allen High School and am very passionate about caring for the environment. I definitely try to practice what I preach to my students. I have been lecturing about solar energy for several years. When I first started talking about it in 2010, I told the students that solar was fantastic but it was still too expensive for the general public to embrace. In only a few short years the price of solar has dropped like a rock and now I inform my students that solar is actually cheaper than their regular electricity. I contacted SolarCity in late 2013 to have them install solar panels on our house. At no cost to me, the solar panels were installed in May of 2014 and I have had a negative balance on my normal electric company ever since. I would love the chance to educate adults who would like to improve the energy efficiency of their home and anything else that they would like to learn that pertains to environmental issues!
